Newport Pagnell is one of the 13 historic towns and villages that make up the city of Milton Keynes.
To the north of the town is the expansive Bury Field which has a small beach on the banks of the Great Ouse and is a popular area for wild swimming, particularly dogs…
The field is also used as a Park Run ‘trail run’ for runners who like a few obstacles on the route. Some of the undulations in Bury Field turn out to be English Civil War defences and it was here that John Bunyan was stationed. His relevance ecomes clearer closer to Bedford.
Newport Pagnell is the original home of Aston Martin and there’s a showroom in the town in case you don’t fancy taking the bus home.
Newport has the country’s only vellum manufacturer (products online) which is set beside the River Ouzel and downstream, Tickford Bridge, a wrought iron structure made in 1810, still carries traffic over the River Ouzel before it converges with the Great Ouse.
The No. 21 bus connects Newport Pagnell with Olney via Sherington. The C10 Cranfield Connect runs to Bedford.
For buses to/from Stony Stratford, you will need to get a bus to central Milton Keynes and change. For more details: Arriva
