Pavenham

The pretty village of Pavenham is rare in that its 700 strong population actually has a traditional British phone box with an actual phone in it. As a mark of respect for its GPO/BT heritage, the phone doesn’t actually work.

What it lacks in 20th Century communication, it makes up for in artistic expression with some flamboyant thatching on its pretty limestone cottages. The limestone taken from the nearby ridge has also provided the conditions for a site of special scientific interest. Stevington Marsh is a marshland fed by water from the limestone ridge and supplying the Great Ouse.
