Great Barford is a pleasant village of around 2,000 people with a pub and an old church but the star of the show is its expansive bridge, which has been keep ferrymen out of business since the 15th Century.
As well as a bridge, it also has a weir a couple of hundre meters dowstream making it a perfect place to and a canoeing trip from Bedford.
There is also a friendly pub across the road.
The 905 bus goes between Bedford and Cambridge via Great Barford, Roxton, Wyboston, Eaton Socon and St Neots.
